The actor Ishaan Khattar recently announced his horror-comedy titled Phone Bhoot which co-stars Katrina Kaif and Siddhant Chaturvedi. Now, he took to his social media to announce another project! Titled Pippa, the film is to be directed by Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon.
Ishaan is set to play Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta in this action-war drama set around the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The film’s title is taken from the Russian war tank PT-76, known as “Pippa”. The project portrays the struggles and valour shown by Indians during that period, through the story of several struggles of the Mehta family. Veteran brigadiers of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron fought on the Eastern Front with their siblings during the war. His story was included in a book called The Burning Chaffees, which is based on the film. The film is co-written by Ravindra Randhawa, Tanmay Mohan and Raja Krishna Menon.
Talking to IANS about this, Ishaan said:
I’m exhilarated to be a part of a film of such magnitude and importance. Getting to play the suave and spirited tank commander Captain Balram Mehta is a true privilege. I’m looking forward to the exciting experience of ‘Pippa’.
The film is co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP films and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films.
