A sweet news for Aval Appadithaan fans has been told that the remake of the classic film is all set to be made. Reportedly, director Badri Venkatesh is planning a remake of the 1978 cult classic, which featured Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Sripriya in lead roles. The director has reportedly approached Shruti Haasan to play the role of Sripriya, while Dulquer Salmaan and Simbu will play the characters of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth respectively.
Talking about the same, the director told The Times of India, “It all started when I took up a social media challenge and answered my niece, who is an American, that the soundtrack of Aval Appadithan resonates with me even today, and tagged Shruti Haasan.” However, he said there may be issues as he does not know who owns the copyright for Aval Appadithaan. “C Rudhraiya (screenplay writer) is no more and I don’t think his daughter, who is in the US, also knows about it. I won’t be recreating the film frame by frame, but I want to start this project without any hindrance,” he was told by the English daily.
Directed by Ananthu, Aval Appadithaan was produced by Raga Manjari, along with students from MGR Sarkar Film and Television Training Institute, Chennai. The film was the first to be directed by a student of the institute. The film was film written by Somasundareshwar and Ananthu along with the screenplay by Rudhraiya and Vanna Nilavan. The music and songs by Ilaiyaraaja were composed by Gangai Amaran and Kannadasan.
