Ajay Gnanamuthu, the director of Cobra, one of the most anticipated Kollywood films, has come forward to cut pay to help the film’s producers deal with the epidemic situation. As the shooting has been postponed due to lockdown, many producers were suffering losses. Recently, Cobra producer, Lalit Kumar and other top producers sought permission from Tamil Nadu minister Kadamba Raju to resume shooting. Since the minister has refused permission to resume shooting of the films, the director has decided a 40 percent pay cut to support the producer.
His kind gesture is definitely a shot in the arm for the film crew. Director Ajay, Vikram and the rest of the team were shooting in Russia, when the Indian government imposed a nationwide lockdown. Therefore, the shooting was halted for a few days after the shooting.
The film stars Chiyaan Vikram, KGF actress Srinidhi Shetty, Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, KS Ravikumar and others. The first song of the upcoming flick Cobra starring Chiyaan Vikram was recently released by the makers by the lead actor. Titled Thumbi Thullal, the romantic number is composed by AR Rahman.
Ajay Gnanamuthu shot to fame with his critically acclaimed film Imaikka Nodigal. Till now, the makers of Cobra have shot the film at various locations including Chennai, Kerala, Europe and parts of Russia. The film is expected to resume shooting as soon as the lockdown for COVID 19 is lifted.
