Amitabh Bachchan lend his voice to the Google Maps app; see inside

Imagine getting directions from Bollywood’s Big B Amitabh Bachchan, whenever you switch to your Google Maps. As reported by Mid-Day, the 77-year-old elderly actor was approached by Google to give the iconic voice for his app.

But this is not the first time the actors will be recording for a project. He has lent his voice to many films and songs in the past and is noted for his vocal depth and baritone. The report also shows that he has been paid a large amount for this project. Right now, Google Maps uses the voice of Karen Jacobson, a New York-based entertainer. He is also apparently the voice behind Apple’s, Siri.

Again, this is not the first time that Google has approached celebrities to give their voice for their products. American singer John Legend and actress Issa Rae have also been approached to voice for the Google Assistant app. But this area has been specific, as will Mr. Bachchan’s project in Hindi and English also specific to Indian audiences.

We are very excited to hear voices like Mr. Bachchan, who are guiding us around the city and cannot wait to learn more about this project!
